The History of J. A. Plast

The History of J. A. Plast

Roof vents since 1974

Since 1974, J. A. Plast has been supplying durable, custom-made products that complement any roof.

1974

In 1974, Jørn Andresen founded J.A. Plastindustri ApS in rented space at the local machine shop in Villerslev, where he began producing Orkidé packaging for the GASA consumer cooperative. Along with packaging, he also began producing ventilation outlets in his spare time—initially for Dukadan and later under his own name.

the 1970s

Gradually, the production of ventilation  outlets took over, and he built a production facility in Koldby, which he expanded several times over the following years.

The early 1980s

In the early 1980s, Jørn joined the local Trade Council and began exporting—initially to England and later to Germany, where he also maintained an office for a time. The company’s name was changed to Koldby Eksport ApS.

1993

Things then really took off, and in 1993 he purchased the buildings from the former Tophus Inventar, which manufactured kitchens in Hassing. The old production facilities in Villerslev were subsequently taken over by the local motorcycle club, Koldby MC.

1995

In 1995, Jørn sold the entire business to Dansk Eternit, and we became J.A. Plastindustri A/S. During that period, production operations were consolidated in Hassing in newly constructed facilities, and the office in Germany was closed.

2003

In 2003, Svend Havemann and Jørgen Haack Jensen purchased the factory together with an investor. They ran J.A. Plastindustri A/S until 2011, when they brought a handful of employees into the ownership group to prepare for a generational transition.

2016

In 2016, J.A. Plastindustri A/S was acquired by the Braas Monier Group, which was in turn acquired by Standard Industries in 2017, leading to the formation of the BMI Group.

Today

Here we are today, and we’ve returned to our original name: J.A. Plastindustri ApS. We have  worked from the same platform since 1974—offering durable, custom-made products that complete any roof.
